Plantation Thinning Zones of Agreement

The Hood River Forest Collaborative has been active since 2011 and has provided input to the Mount Hood National Forest on five vegetation management projects: Red Hill (2011), Lava (2013), Polallie-Cooper (2014), Waucoma Huckleberry Enhancement Project (2020), and East Zone Non-Commercial Thinning Project (2025). Plantations are numerous across the district, and plantation thinning was considered in all of the vegetation management projects. This document seeks to summarize relevant learning from previous projects, highlight areas of additional agreement and issues of interest, and set the stage for continued engagement with Forest Service partners.

The Plantation Thinning Zones of Agreement (ZOA) document was finalized in December 2022. This document represents the collective work of numerous individuals and has received full consensus support from the voting members of the Hood River Forest Collaborative.
